Existing ToDo List

I'll try to keep a running todo list on this page.

Bulge Test

  • Submit title and abstract
    • Finalize title and abstract
  • Organize ideas
    • Organize references.
  • Build a nice little, clear box around the bulge test
  • Propose thesis
  • Obtain gridded blanks
    • Carefully cut out blanks

Old ...
For the biaxial tensile test machine
To power it:

  • Find or buy appropriate power supply to power the actuators
To control it:
  • Buy a motor shield to power two of the actuators Purchased, expect to arrive 2/12. I better learn some soldering skills!
    • Once the replacement MultiMoto arrives, that will have to be figured out too.
  • Determine whether or not feedback control is needed
    • If it is needed, figure out how to use it.
    • Verdict: Since the actuator speed seems fairly consistent for the load, the initial thought is that feedback control can be neglected.
  • Figure out how much force to expect (to size current capacity of motor shield).
To read the force:
  • Determine how much amplification is needed for the load cell
  • Figure out how to set up an op-amp
    • Figure out what electrical components are needed (op-amps, resistors, breadboard, other components)
For the bulge test machine
  • Figure out how much pressure we need to generate.
    • SolidWorks simulation has helped give me the peace of mind that this can be done at relatively low pressures. (This was wrong)
  • Come up with the necessary drawings.
  • Figure out how to best protect the camera.
  • Figure out how to generate the necessary pressure.
